Big Purse Brings Surfers to Long Island
Seeing that Long Islanders have being riding Atlantic waves since 1912, it would only be fitting to bring a competition to the East Coast. Quiksilver plans to draw top surfers to New York this September with a $1 million winning purse, taking place as part of the ASP world tour from September 4th to the 15th.

Slater Headlines The Quik Pro Gold Coast
Kelly Slater announced that he will be surfing at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, just a few short days away. He remains undecided on his plans for the rest of the year and says " “Either a great way to go out or to start another campaign! I can’t honestly answer that (my plans for the year) right now. I’ve thought about doing a farewell aloha tour and saying bye to the tour and I’ve thought about retiring after this event for real.”

The tragic news of Andy Irons' death on the verge of Kelly Slater's 10th World Title put an end to the rivarly between the two world reknown surfers that have shaped surf history of the last two decades.
