Unfortunately the arrival of Hurricane Irene has resulted in the cancelation of the Long Beach music festival, but the Quiksilver Pro New York Surf Competition is still on! The competition is scheduled to begin its 11-day holding period on Sept. 5, with the Quik Pro Trials to being on Sept. 4 instead of Sept. 1. Leave it up to 10X World Champ Kelly Slater to win yet another contest. The king of surfing dominated the world famous break, Teahupo'o, catching perfect four-to-six foot waves. This is the 5th event of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title season and 47th elite tour victory win for Slater.

The Quiksilver Pro New York surfing competition is coming to New York, bringing world famous surfers and big bands. Both of these are sure to bring crowds to this 2 week event. Read more about the event here.
Set times have been revealed for the free Quiksilver-hosted shows taking place in Long Beach, NY during the NY Pro. Bands performing include The Flaming Lips, Neon Indian, Interpol, Matt & Kim, Girl Talk and others. To check out the set times click here.
The 4th Annual NVBC Point Mugu Contest took place this weekend on the surf break on the private Ventura Naval Base. There were 157 competitors including Quiksilver's Tyler Newton (who won first place), Kanoa Igarashi and Peter Mel.
The Art of FLIGHT will be holding plenty of events to promote the film. There will be autograph signings, photo exhibits, and a book launch where fans can meet Travis Rice and the rest of the cast. More information can be found here.

Balaram Stack was chosen as one of the two available wild card slots for the Quiksilver Pro NY event. He will be competing against 34 of the world's top surfers. Read more about him here.
A number of Quiksilver surfers were involved in this year's contest which brought excellent waves and first place to Tyler Newton. Peter Mel, Kanoa Igarashi were also in attendance as the two-day event gave thousands of spectators a rare sight to the private surf spot which is only open to the public for just a few days out of the year.
