The Quiksilver Pro New York is ON!
Unfortunately the arrival of Hurricane Irene has resulted in the cancelation of the Long Beach music festival, but the Quiksilver Pro New York Surf Competition is still on! The competition is scheduled to begin its 11-day holding period on Sept. 5, with the Quik Pro Trials to being on Sept. 4 instead of Sept. 1. Kelly Slater Wins Billabong Pro Tahiti!
Leave it up to 10X World Champ Kelly Slater to win yet another contest. The king of surfing dominated the world famous break, Teahupo'o, catching perfect four-to-six foot waves. This is the 5th event of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title season and 47th elite tour victory win for Slater.

The 4th Annual NVBC Point Mugu Contest took place this weekend on the surf break on the private Ventura Naval Base. There were 157 competitors including Quiksilver's Tyler Newton (who won first place), Kanoa Igarashi and Peter Mel.

Peter Mel, Kanoa Igarashi were also in attendance as the two-day event gave thousands of spectators a rare sight to the private surf spot which is only open to the public for just a few days out of the year.
